The Asbury Park Marketing Fund (APMF), a New Jersey 501 c 3 non profit, was created by gay and lesbian Asbury Park residents in 2001 to promote the New Jersey oceanfront town of Asbury Park to the gay and lesbian communities in New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

For the last nine years, APMF has sought to achieve its objectives with through the production of ROAD TRIP WEEKEND, designed to “spread the word” that Asbury Park has established itself as a gay and lesbian vacation destination, as well as a diverse residential community.

What began in 2001 as a one-night bar event with a performance by Cyndi Lauper has now grown into a 4-day festival with a range of specially planned events.   ROAD TRIP FESTIVAL now attracts thousands of gays and lesbians from New York, Philadelphia, Washington D.C. and beyond to discover Asbury Park.

ROAD TRIP FESTIVAL 2010 event is scheduled for July 15th - 18th.  Take a look at our many events that will be happening and come and experience what everyone is talking about.  Asbury Park, the NEW Jersey Shore.

Brad Hurtado is a NYC-based television and event producer who purchased a weekend home in Asbury Park 2001.  Brad has been producing the main events of Asbury Park's annual ROAD TRIP WEEKEND since 2002 and helped develop it into what Advocate Magazine calls "a high-octane weekend of beach parties, splashy art fairs, sports events, dinner galas and customized real estate tours."    He served as the vice president of the Asbury Park Marketing Fund for five years.

In 2008 he created SAND BLAST, Asbury Park's Dance on the Beach, which became the premier beach party on the Jersey Shore by it's second year, drawing over 1,500 guests to the Fifth Avenue Beach in mid-July and selling out all the hotels and B&Bs in Asbury Park.

In 2009 he contineud adding additional events to his roster including NYC's premier drag entertainer, Hedda Lettuce and her classic, camp movie nights at the Asbury Lanes,  with "Mommie Dearest" and "Valley of the Dolls."

Also in 2009 he created RIDE / Asbury Park, a bikers & bears party at The Stone Pony with noted fashion photographer Joe Oppedisano doing four photo shoots on stage with his crew of sexy beasts.  Out-Q Magazine called RIDE "the perfect frission to end an exhilarating day."

As his line up of events in AP grew Hurtado then created www.AsburyParkEvents.com which became an online home for his events as well as a select listing of other exciting activities in Asbury Park where people can find out Where To Go & What To Do.   AsburyParkEvents.com quickly began receiving over 4,000 hits a week as visitors started using it as their first stop when planning a trip to our City By The Sea.
